Domaine de Litteau makes splash with new pool

Domaine de Litteau siblu parc in Calavados, Normandy, is building an environmentally friendly covered pool complex in time in time for the 2010 season.
The 210m2 indoor centre, scheduled for completion by June 2010, includes an adult pool, toddler's paddling area and waterslide, and is the latest in a series of environmental developments since siblu acquired Domaine de Litteau in 2007.
These include the creation of a reed bed sewage pond to naturally purify waste from the parc, the installation of low-energy street lighting and the building of individual car parking spaces from recycled materials.
Domaine de Litteau's new pool complex has many innovative energy-saving features. Each of the transparent polycarbonate panels used in the roof is manufactured with seven layers of honeycombed cavities, each trapping air for a powerful level of natural insulation.
The pool also uses an intelligent water and air heating system to cut electrical energy consumption by 75%. To make further savings on energy use, heat loss and evaporation will be reduced by up to 40% by using Heatsavr, a bio-degradable liquid that forms a transparent layer to act like a blanket over the surface of the water.
The main pool measures 19m by 8m and has a depth of 1.2m throughout. There are three spa features, including a bubble spa, massage pool and spray, and a waterslide that starts within the complex, then winds outside in a tube before returning inside.
Attached to the main pool is a shallow toddler's area of almost 40m2, which will be equipped with a variety of water games.
The pool opens on to a pretty terrace area with seating, overlooking the picturesque Calvados countryside.
