Midi-Pyrénées Holidays

The Midi Pyrénées is one of France’s most enticing and enchanting region and visitors come here for the mountains of the south, the beautiful rolling countryside and history of the north, and the Gers region.

The Gers region, west of Toulouse lies at the heart of the historic province of Gascony, today often dubbed as France's Tuscany. The rolling countryside is lushly green and sleepy bastides dominate the hilltops. Here foie gras is the local delicacy and Armagnac the locally produced tipple.

For all you cheese lovers, the Midi-Pyrénées is the home to a lot of the most reknowned French cheeses: Roquefort - the famous blue ewe’s milk cheese - and little, soft, round, gooey Rocamadour goat’s cheeses, from the cliff-clinging village of Rocamadour.

This region has had an interesting history of Cathars and other religions, the troubadours and invasions. The past has left behind castles, medieval towns, abbeys and cathedrals.

If you are looking for a spot for sunbathing and winter sports, the Midi-Pyrénées can offer it all. The white sandy beaches of the Atlantic and the golden Mediterranean beaches are a couple of hours drive or train ride away. During the winter months you can take to the slopes of the many the ski resorts of the Pyrénées. For a day out shoping and sightseeing, Toulouse, known as the pink city due to the rosy colour of its buildings, is a cosmoplitan and vibrant French city.
